The cocktail was invented by Count Camillo Negroni, who asked bartender Fosco Scarcelli to make his favorite Americano cocktail more alcoholic by replacing soda with gin. To make the new cocktail look different from its predecessor, Scarcelli garnished it with a slice of orange instead of a lemon.
To prepare Cremoncello, limoncello is poured into a glass, on top of which cold cream is placed. It is customary to serve such a cocktail without mixing the ingredients. Cremoncello is very fond of Italians, who believe that the taste of the drink is very similar to ice cream.
